Hello everyone and welcome to the second readable “Star Gazing” report. I am Paul Casey here with all your entertainment news. Let’s get on to the stories.
Well, it’s recently been reported that rapper Eminem, who has an album due out within the next couple of months, and just released his newest music video, will be performing at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards on May 31. This performance will be fresh off his album release. As of this writing, he is the only performer named.
Actor turned director Jason Priestly is going to be a father for the second time. Priestly, who mostly known as the character Brandon Walsh on the hit 90s show “Beverly Hills, 90210”, first became a father in 2005 when his daughter Ava was born. No word yet on a due date or gender.
Also in fathers who are actors news, LOST actor Josh Holloway and his wife recently became the proud parents of Java Kumala Holloway on April 9, in Oahu. This is the couple’s first child.
It’s sink or swim time for many television shows as they’re ending their season runs. Many networks are deciding what shows to bring back and which shows to dump, while many fans are preparing petitions to keep their favorites. This does work with some shows, “Friday Night Lights”, “Jericho”, and “Family Guy” are just some examples. Two shows that stick out to me though are “Chuck” which is a show that’s right on the fence for NBC, and “Reaper” on the CW. “Chuck” fans are diehard to the super-spy geek and the rest of his ‘Nerd Herd’ crew, so I’m making the prediction that this show will be coming back. “Reaper” on the other hand not only has been slumping in the ratings, but it’s two guys in charge recently signed a deal with a rival studio. Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the show, but many are predicting that without its creators and current showrunners, it may not last. Of course, CW could get many other people to be in charge, anybody who knows about backstage dealings with shows knows that many don’t last long after their creators/showrunners leave. Yes there are exceptions, but the style and tone of those shows usually change also. But who knows, maybe “Reaper” could turn around with a new head-honcho. But me personally, I’m predicting this show won’t be coming back.
And speaking of shows coming back, Law and Order: Special Victims Unit will be returning for what will be its eleventh season, but, its stars may not be! We’ve all loved the toying of a possible relationship between Chris Meloni’s and Mariska Hargitay’s Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson, but will be get to see it for one more season? Now, nothing is set in stone at this point, but apparently Meloni has been having trouble with the negotiations while Hargitay’s recent health concerns and spending more time with family seem to be the reasons for hesitation.
And let me give you a little bit of “Star Gazing: Nebula Newsbites” to send you off.
Well, with the high gross and anticipation of the latest film in the “Fast and Furious” series, it seems both Vin Diesel and Paul Walker have signed on to star in a fifth film in the franchise which, sadly Walker says will probably “close out the franchise”.
It seems Amy Winehouse, who was one of the numerous celebrities ‘bashed’ in Eminem’s recent music video, was asked to do a duet with the rapper, but declined, stating she loves hip hop and Eminem, but didn’t feel it was the right career move for her.
Music producer Phil Spector was recently convicted of the murder of Lana Clarkson.
And two musical artists have a little bit of label news, it seems Jessica Simpson has lost her label deal while Adrienne Bailon recently confirmed through her Twitter account that she’s signed a deal with Island Def Jam.
And that’s your “Star Gazing: Nebula Newsbites” for today. Thanks for reading; I’ll be back soon. And until then, I’m Paul, and that’s all.
